April Ross

April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals at several Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join the team in Tokyo. Ross aims to earn her Olympic debut gold but she is also aiming to win greater. With her age of 39, this may be Ross' last opportunity to claim the gold medal at an Olympics. Still confident nevertheless. Ross was mentioned in NBC Boston as saying that if you play your highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. Then I will also take some luck. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in sports at Newport Harbor High School. Ross went on to play in numerous sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as track and running. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. According to her bio, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitter on the volleyball court during her high-school career. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player in 1999. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. However, Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit before joining the duo. In reality, she was a winner of multiple major tournaments using two partners, one of which is a volleyball icon. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who was the winner of the world championship alongside Kessy in 2009, also was an important player on the an international level. They took home a Silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy in the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross participated in the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated the high school she attended. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the university. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. She was also a key player in helping the Trojans to make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she experienced a devastating personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and won consecutive national titles. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie did not get to see Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer while she was a sophomore at USC. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Also, Margie remains a source of inspiration to her on the beach and in life.
